The project explores the complex relationship between tourism and residency, examining its impact on the urban fabric through two case studies – Tel Aviv–Jaffa and Lod. While in Tel Aviv tourism has already reshaped the urban landscape and distanced residents from central areas, Lod’s urban renewal plans aim to attract visitors, raising concerns about neglecting local needs. Through mapping, analyzing open spaces, and evaluating potential building additions, the project proposes a strategy that balances residents’ needs with the city’s tourism potential, creating an inviting city center that fosters community interaction. The design seeks to return the city to its inhabitants, highlight its historical and social uniqueness, and serve as a model for balanced urban renewal in other cities.
